TidySongs is a software that allows you to organize your music library and delete duplicates in iTunes. On top of that, TidySongs has other features that can help you make your music library easier to navigate and more beautiful. One of these features is the "add album artwork" section: throught TidySongs, you can automatically add missing album covers to each of your songs.
Before I go on, let me just point out that TidySons only works with iTunes; you can use it on MAC OS X or Windows.
If you have a small music library, or if you are not missing a lot of album covers, no need to use TidySongs to add album covers; you can add them manually: it won’t take too long. On the contrary, if you are missing a lot of album covers, TidySongs will help you save a lot of time! Here is how the program works:
Automatically adding album covers
Download and install TidySongs on your computer. When you launch it, a window pops up and offers you 4 choices:
- add album art
- find duplicates
- fix songs
- organize genres
Click on add album art, and select the playlist you would like to start working on: if you don’t want TidySongs to work on just one of your playlists, the only thing you have to do is select "Music (all songs)", and the program will scan your entire music library to add album covers to each of your songs.
Once you have chosen a playlist, you can choose to add album covers to your songs one by one, or automatically. You may be wondering why opt for the "one by one" mode, as the whole point of TidySongs is that it fixes the missing album covers automatically, but I feel it’s really clever to have included this option too:
- First, it will give you a proper understanding of how TidySongs is working. They actually recommend that you proceed this way to make sure you get what you expected. As we all know, people sometimes have different expectations, and the "add album art" mode also depends on whether you only have edgy songs from music avant-garde, or more popular songs.
- Second, proceeding one by one allows you to customize your music library: you can always add an album cover different from the one the program suggests, and make your iTunes look like yours, truly!
- Third, of course, you can switch to the automatic mode at any time!
Last but not least, let’s point out that using the "one by one" mode doesn’t mean you are adding album artwork as if you didn’t have any software: the program is open in your iTunes library and you go from one song to the other pretty easily, without the hassle of dragging and dropping album covers from a website back to your iTunes.
Give a new look to your iPod as well!
Just transfer the newly added album artwork to your iPod: here too, it will make things easier for you!
